Spring Tide 2005-WOW!
Spring Tide was an event held
on the 24th of September 2005. The aim of the event was to
grab the attention of teenagers on the Atlantic seaboard.
The intention was to create an opportunity for teenagers to
have a jol! It was with this in mind that the organizing
team planned a whole day around surfing, skate boarding, and
building a stage that hosted 8 local music bands; the main
attraction being a local group called ‘The Rudimentals’. The
event attracted 400-500 teenagers.
Surf Compo.
The surf competition was held at Glen beach in Camps Bay.
There were up to 40 surfers and 30 body boarders from as far
as Melkbos Strand. There were 6 divisions for both groups;
this included a girls/ladies heat. The competition was
organized by Son Surf. The sponsors were- Town & Country,
Lizzard and many others.
Skateboard Compo.
The skate competition & the bands were hosted at Camps Bay
High School. Son SK8 organized the skating- bringing their
own ramps, judges and merchandise. The whole event was run
with excitement & energy. There were great prizes that were
sponsored from Psycho skateboards, Lizzard merchandise, and
a lot more! The guys put on a great event!
There was a gift voucher for R1000 from Strong Surf
Promotions for the surfing & skating. Spot prizes for the
ones who tried the hardest!!
Music.
