Our
Policy:
It is the policy of Camps Bay United Church (CBUC) to give at least
one tenth of the tithes and gifts it receives to specific missions
which it supports or in which members of its congregation are
engaged. The disbursement of these funds, which is reviewed on an
annual basis, is entrusted to a Missions Committee, on which a
member of CBUC’s leadership team sits

Mission Organisations

SIM
(Serving in Missions)
We are enjoined to “go into all the world and preach the
gospel”. CBUC does not currently have any member who has
been called to a foreign mission field on a full-time
basis.
However, to keep the
world-wide vision before the congregation, the committee
has decided to support SIM (“Serving in Mission”), an
international, non-denominational mission founded in the
1880’s. SIM has over 1400 workers in some 40 countries.
Included in this number are around 50 South Africans,
serving in more than 15 different countries, as far
afield as Bolivia, Ethiopia, Senegal and South-east
Asia.
SIM does not generate income and is therefore dependent
upon donations and prayer support from the Christian
community to enable its missionaries to fulfil their
call to reach out into “all the world”. CBUC provides
monthly financial support to SIM, which currently goes
towards the support requirements of Eben and Foong Chan
Burger, scheduled to return to Senegal early in the new
year, Randall and Lynette Sheldon and Gerhard and Greta
Venter, who work in the SIM Tokai office.
