Camps Bay United Hiking Club

The hiking group usually does a full morning hike on the first Saturday of each month with a shorter, +- 2 hour hike, on the third Saturday of each month. We do also advise the degree of difficulty of the hike. In addition we do, from time to time, also arrange week-end and longer hikes. The arrangements are all advised by e-mail ; you are most welcome to join us and we do have a number of other folk from other Churches joining us ; if you would like to be added to the e-mail list please advise the Church office. 2. Specific hiking activities for August
a. Lions Heads – 9 August
On Thursday 9 August we will be doing a short hike – up Lions Head ; meet at the parking area on the Signal Hill road at the normal place for the start of the Lions Head ascent. (ie +- 500 mtrs from Kloof Nek) at 7,30 a.m.
We should be back down by +- 9,30 a.m.

b. Get together – Saturday evening 18 August
At Herbert and Gails house ; includes supper, presentation of the Jones/Martin expedition to Namibia and beyond, showing of some of the DVD’s of hikes and bidding Stuart and Jacqui farewell. Details will follow shortly. If you have not yet confirmed your presence please contact Eileen (021 4388066 or 083 6522514) – we need to know numbers for catering purposes.
 

c. Short hike – Saturday 18 August
The short walk will be a +- 2 hour hike from Constantia Nek up to Eagles Nest and Belle Ombre. Meet at Constantia Nek at 7,30 a.m.
 

d. Steenbok Trail (West Coast National Park) – Saturday 25 August
Details of the arrangements for those doing this hike will follow shortly.
 

e. Jonkershoek/Victoria Peak – Saturday 1 September
 

We will be doing the Panorama Trail at Jonkershoek and attempting to get to the top of Victora Peak. This will be a full day’s hike and is a “toughie”. It will require an early start – details to follow.
