Music Team
The worship ministry is integral to the life of our church
and an important part of our Sunday services, leading the
congregation into praise and worship. The worship team meets
once a week to practice and pray for the church services. If
you are gifted musically, are able to play a musical
instrument or sing, or you would like to lead a worship
service, we would love you to join us.

Trip to Hillsong, by Trevor Wood
"One of the fundamental parts of any church is its
Praise and Worship. Although the central focus of any church
is to come together as a body of believers, to indulge in
the Word of God and put it into practice, we celebrate
together each week by praising our Creator and Worshipping
His name through the way we live. Music is one part of that
Worship and it is my privilege to be the Music Pastor at
Camps bay United Church.
Each week is a growth experience and working with such
wonderful people makes the work so much more satisfying.
Learning more about one’s gifts and putting them into
practice in a more affective way is vital in any work
environment. I have just had the privilege of traveling
across the seas to be inspired and energized for the work I
am involved in.
The name Hillsong may bring about different thoughts to each
person but for me and our Youth Pastor Bijon, Hillsong was
an experience. Bijon and I, along with Bonnie Seidel went
across to Sydney Australia for a 5 day Hillsong Conference,
held at the Olympic Stadium just outside Sydney. The journey
began as 3 tired and weary travelers set out for a
conference that had no prior expectations. All we knew was
that the Hillsong church is a leading church as far as
Praise and Worship music is concerned and some seriously
dedicated people.
The thought of 35 000 people made us feel a little uneasy
and our imaginations vividly pictured major traffic jams,
long queues and hours of waiting. We arrived at the Olympic
stadium after figuring out the public transport and arrived
about an hour and a half before the conference started.
Walking towards the stadium, our hearts began to race and
get excited as we saw a sea of people ready to experience
God. From the time the doors opened, it took about 10
minutes for people to enter the massive arena where the buzz
made our heads spin.
With 4500 volunteers helping out at the conference, we were
greeted with great enthusiasm. It felt as if we floated
around everywhere and landed in the right places all the
time. The lights dimmed and on the 5 audio visual screens
were pictures depicting the Power of God all over the world.
One cannot imagine the experience, one has to feel it and be
in the middle of it. As tears streamed down my face, I was
overcome by the awesome presence of God in that place. The
conference was a mere tool in meeting with God.
We had evening sessions Monday to Friday for over 2 hours
and heard speakers such as Bill Hybles, Rick Godwin,
Jentezen Franklin, Reinard Bonnke to name a few. Our day
sessions consisted of electives from streams such as
Creative Arts, Pastors and Leaders, Youth and Children’s
work. These selected sessions were personalized to those
focusing on the topics and gave such an in-depth look on how
to improve one’s leadership skills and learn from past
mistakes and use what God has given us to use. We found that
the enthusiasm and passions of each person giving the talks
gave us a desire to use what God has given to us to further
His kingdom on earth.
Something
else I learned during my time over at the Hillsong church/
conference is that each person, from the smallest job to the
main pastors, is that they believe in the CHURCH as God
believes in us. Not only that, but they believe in bringing
excellence in what they do. If one looks at the Old
Testament, we read of the people bringing their finest to
the temple. Everything that was made was made with precision
and excellence. I had to take a close look at my life and
ask the question whether I am living a life of excellence in
all that I do. To put it mildly, I got quite a fright.
All in all, our time away revived our hearts and souls and
we have definitely come back having met with God in a mighty
way. Hillsong Conference 2007 – Highly recommended"

is important that we come together as a church and pray.
