Andre
de Villiers
Who is Andre de Villiers?
(And if he is a member of our church, why do we see him so
seldom?)
Despite being a Camps Bay ‘local’ and CBUC congregant for many
years, Andre spends most of his time on the road in the service
of the Lord. Responding to the challenge to “to make fishers of
men”, Andre visited schools, prisons and congregations in
countries as far away as New Zealand, America, UK and India for
most of 2007 and 2008.
Andre De Villiers & Friends - Cancer Benefit Concert
Dear Friend,
We are pleased to provide you with details for our benefit
concert. We would appreciate any assistance you are able to
provide.
Background
Annemarie Oosthuizen has recently been diagnosed with breast
cancer. This diagnosis came just days after she made the
difficult decision to place her 96 year old mother in frail
care. It has become very clear that she is not able to
financially sustain herself during her period of treatment, as
she will be unable to work during this time.
Upon hearing of her predicament through a friend, the well known
South African singer Andre de Villiers (www.andredevilliers.com),
graciously offered to do a music concert in her benefit (asking
no performance fee), with the proceeds going towards her
treatment and living expenses during this time. This is indeed a
miracle from God! It gives you and me the opportunity to reach
out in God’s love while having an enjoyable evening.
The project
The concert is to be called “Andre de Villiers and Friends” and
will be held at Life Church, 30 Main Road, Sea Point on Friday 1
May at 8:00pm. Life Church, which can seat 750 people, has
donated their facility free of charge.
Various skilled friends of Annemarie have gathered to assist
with the project, in areas such as sales, on-site logistics,
marketing etc. This is a wonderful labour of love without which
the concert would not have been possible.
We are not marketing the evening as a “charity” event, but
purely as a concert. We felt, however, that we would like to
give you our (Andre and our team’s) perspective for holding the
event.
Andre is a committed Christian and his concerts always take the
style of a testimony as he shares and sings his way through the
evening. The concert, held by Andre and his friends will be a
wonderful evangelistic opportunity, without being overly
Christian-branded. This opens the door for business people to
invite friends, cell groups or churches to use the evening as an
outreach opportunity.
We would appreciate your help in one or more of the following
areas:
1. Purchase a ticket
2. Purchase tickets for family and friends, or sponsor a ticket
for someone less fortunate
3. Assist with ticket sales through your church or business
Help raise awareness for the concert at your church, business or
to friends by:
1. Sending an e-invite attached and this letter to your email
addresses
2. Displaying and handing out of flyers (available from Sue at
Life Church)
